How to FICA Your Betway Account to Make Withdrawals and Get Your Winnings Fast

What is FICA and why is it necessary?

In compliance with South African FICA requirements, Betway and all other online bookmakers must adhere to the requirements of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 2001 ("FICA") which sets out rules in relation to customer registration and identification.

Failing to submit the required FICA documents will result in you being unable to withdraw any funds from your Betway account.

You'll be able to deposit and place bets without sending documents, but no winnings can be transferred from your Betway account to your bank or withdrawn as cash. Here's how to FICA your Betway account.

Which FICA documents are required?

There are two types of documents required to successfully FICA your Betway account—valid proof of identity and valid proof of address. You don't need to send in any original documents to FICA your Betway account.

Simply scan the documents using a computer or take a clear photograph of them with your phone. Your next step is to upload your FICA documents or email them to fica@betway.co.za

To ensure your identity can be verified, your photographs will need to be clear and the text easy to read. We suggest you take photographs of your documents during the daytime outside in the shade.

If it's nighttime and you can't wait until tomorrow, hold your phone very still under good light inside to ensure your photographs are not blurry.

To FICA your Betway account, you must provide BOTH of the following:

📃 Identity document

📃 Proof of residence/address

Please note that as an additional validation, you may be requested by Betway Customer Support to provide a valid Bank Statement from a South African bank account (no older than 3 months). 

Accepted Identity Documents

Upload or send an email to fica@betway.co.za with ONE of the following documents:

✅ Green barcoded ID book

✅ Smart Card ID (both sides)

✅ Driver's License (both sides)

✅ Passport

Accepted Address Documents

Upload or send an email to fica@betway.co.za with ONE of the following documents:

✅ Utility Bill (no older than 3 months)

✅ Bank statement (no older than 3 months)

✅ Lease or rental agreement (no older than 1 year)

✅ Municipal rate and taxes invoice (no older than 3 months)

✅ Mortgage statement (no older than 6 months)

✅ Telephone or internet account (no older than 3 months)

✅ Official tax return (no older than 1 year)

✅ Life insurance policy (no older than 1 year)

✅ Correspondence from a body corporate or share-block association (no older than 1 year)

✅ Television license documents (no older than 1 year)

✅ Registered residential address confirmation inserted in your ID document

✅ Motor vehicle license or documentation (no older than 1 year)

✅ Letter from a Municipal authority confirming that an individual is permitted to reside on communal land (no older than 3 months)

How to upload your FICA documents on Betway

1️⃣ Log in to your Betway account.

2️⃣ Click the hamburger menu in the top left corner of your screen

3️⃣ Scroll down and select "Document Upload".

4️⃣ Under the ID Document section, upload at least one Proof of ID document by clicking the "Choose File" button and browsing for the necessary documents.

5️⃣ Under the Other section, upload at least one Proof of Address document by clicking the "Choose File" button and browsing for the necessary documents.

6️⃣ You will receive an email once your FICA documents on Betway have been verified, which may take up to 48 hours.

7️⃣ Once your Betway Account is verified, you can make your first withdrawal!

​Betway FICA Guidelines

➡ If you use a Smart Card ID or a Driver's License please ensure that send or upload both sides of the card.

➡ The name on your ID document must be the same as what appears on your address document.

➡ The name and address on your address document must match what you provided during Betway registration.

➡ Your address document must have a date.

➡ Your address document must contain your residential address (Postal address not acceptable).

➡ The photograph of your face must be clear as well as the text on all your documents. If anything is blurry, retake the photograph under better light conditions until it's clear and legible.
