How to play FantasyGo

Winning Formula

Your role is to create a fantasy football team and go head-to-head with other fans. The better your chosen players perform in real life, the more points your team gets. The teams with the highest points score at the end of each contest win cash prizes.

Contest Categories

FantasyGo offers two main kinds of contests: Gameweek Contests and Match Contests. You can participate in the Gameweek Contests for Premier League and DStv Premiership, and Match Contests for Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Understanding Gameweek Contests

A gameweek is a set of matches usually played over a single weekend or week.

Here's what you do:

1. Select 11 players for your team, but you can't have more than three from the same club. You have a fantasy budget of 100 for this.
2. Decide on a formation from the options provided.
3. Pick a captain and vice-captain. Your captain's score is doubled, and if they don't play, your vice-captain's score is doubled instead.
4. Finalize your team at least 90 minutes before the first match of the gameweek. This is your deadline.
5. Watch the games and score points! The better your team does in real life, the more points you get.
6. Want more chances to win? Enter multiple teams into the contest!

Understanding Match Contests at FantasyGo

Match contests are centered around a single match, such as Manchester United vs. Arsenal in the Premier League, or Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

Here's what you do:

1. Choose 11 players for your team, but this time, you can't have more than seven from the same club. You have a fantasy budget of 100 for this.
2. Pick a captain and a vice-captain, the captain's score is doubled. If they don't play, your vice-captain's score is doubled.
3. Lock your team 90 minutes before the match starts.
4. As the match plays out, your players earn points based on their real-life performance.
5. Want more chances to win? Enter multiple teams into the contest!

Understanding Player Scoring on FantasyGo

Players on your fantasy team score points based on their real-life performances. Here's how they rack up the points:

• Playing up to 60 minutes: 1 point
• Playing 60 minutes or more (excluding stoppage time): 2 points
• Goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender: 6 points
• Goal scored by a midfielder: 5 points
• Goal scored by a forward: 4 points
• Goal assist: 3 points
• Clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender: 4 points
• Clean sheet by a midfielder: 1 point
• Every 3 shot saves by a goalkeeper: 1 point
• Penalty save: 5 points
• Penalty miss: -2 points
• Best players in a match earn bonus points*: 1-3 points
• Every 2 goals conceded by a goalkeeper or defender: -1 point
• Yellow card: -1 point
• Red card**: -3 points
• Own goal: -2 points

*Bonus points apply only to Premier League contests. **If a player gets both a yellow card and a red card, they're penalized with -3 points in total for all cards.

Additional Rules:

• A player is considered to have participated in a match or gameweek if they've played for at least 1 minute or received a yellow/red card.
• If neither your captain nor vice-captain play in the gameweek, no player's scores will be doubled.
• In a Gameweek Contest or Match Contest, if there's a tie in scores between two or more users, they will share the position and divide any prizes equally.
• After entering a contest, you can't withdraw. However, you can make unlimited changes to your team before the Contest Deadline.
